Rogue Ohio Lifting StrapsStrap length 20 in (Rogue spec table) BarBend's own page is inconsistent: its spec box says 15 in, its text says 20 in. We use the brand's 20 in. BarBend

We do not run these tests ourselves. Independent figures are quoted from the source named in each row.

The Gymreapers Lifting Straps ($14.99) are our top pick for most lifters, because they pair a padded wrist with an 18 in cotton loop for $14.99. They score 7.8 of 10 here. The Rogue Ohio ($15.00) is the plain, no-padding choice for heavy deadlifts, and the Harbinger Padded Cotton ($11.99) is the cheapest way to add wrist padding. The picks come from published specs, named third-party reviews and owner reports, not from our own lab. See how we score.

Two other picks fit narrower jobs. The IronMind Strong-Enough ($24.95) is a nylon strap with a strongman pedigree, and the Versa Gripps Pro ($79.99) is a fast, padded grip for high-volume pulling. No brand in this list publishes a load rating, and we found no independent lab that has measured one. Prices were read on Oct 23, 2026.

How we picked

Each strap was scored on five weighted criteria: grip security and load rating (30%), wrist comfort and padding (20%), speed on and off the bar (15%), materials and warranty (15%), and three-year cost (20%). We read the brand store pages for Gymreapers, Harbinger, Rogue, IronMind and Versa Gripps, the BarBend 2026 lifting straps roundup (updated Oct 12, 2026), the CPSC SaferProducts recall database, a Reddit thread on Versa Gripps, a single-reviewer write-up at A Workout Routine, and the 100 most recent customer reviews on the Gymreapers page. This is researched from published data, not tested in our own lab. Details are on how we score.

Because nobody publishes a grip test, the grip score rests on strap length, materials, brand claims and what owners report. Where the evidence is thin, we say so and keep the score modest. Versa Gripps is an affiliate partner of this site, and its score follows the same evidence rules as the rest.

What should you look for in lifting straps?

Check five numbers before you buy: length, width, padding, material and warranty.

  • Length of 18 in or more. The picks here run from 18 in (Gymreapers) to 21.25 in (IronMind). Longer webbing gives you more wraps around the bar, and BarBend notes that its 18 in pick may be short for big wrists.
  • Width of 1.5 in. Rogue and IronMind both list 1.5 in. A wider strap spreads pressure over more skin.
  • Padding if your wrists bruise. Gymreapers uses neoprene, Harbinger uses a NeoTek pad, and Rogue and IronMind list none. BarBend says the unpadded Rogue strap may pinch or bruise sensitive wrists.
  • Cotton or nylon. Cotton is softer and cheaper. IronMind uses nylon webbing and states it is made in the USA. BarBend notes that sweat-soaked cotton dries slowly.
  • A written warranty. Gymreapers states a lifetime replacement guarantee. Harbinger states 90 days. Versa Gripps states 1 year for manufacturing defects. Rogue and IronMind did not show warranty terms on the pages we read.
  • Competition rules. Straps are not a powerlifting aid. The 2026 IPF Technical Rulebook names none, and one retailer, SBD Ireland, states they are not allowed. Check your federation first.

Three-year cost is simple here, because straps have no electricity use and no documented consumables. It is the purchase price. The only wrinkle is replacement. Gymreapers states a lifetime replacement guarantee, so a worn pair should cost shipping, not a new purchase, if the brand honors it. For the others, a worn pair means buying again: five pairs of Harbinger straps cost $59.95, and five pairs of Rogue Ohio straps cost $75.00, which is still $4.99 less than one Versa Gripps Pro.

Match the strap to the job. For deadlifts, rack pulls and shrugs, a 20 in or 21.25 in loop gives the most wraps. For rows, pulldowns and machine pulls, speed matters more, and that is where the Versa Gripps Pro earns its price, according to the single reviewer at A Workout Routine and owners in the Reddit thread we read. For a first pair, the $14.99 Gymreapers is the lowest-risk buy because of the padding and the written warranty.

FAQ

Which lifting straps are best for most people?

The Gymreapers Lifting Straps at $14.99 score highest here at 7.8 of 10. BarBend also names them its best overall pick for 2026. They are padded, 18 in long and carry a lifetime replacement guarantee on the brand page.

Are Versa Gripps worth $79.99?

Only if you value speed and built-in padding on high-volume pulls. The Pro costs $64.99 more than a Rogue Ohio, and no independent lab has published a grip test. Read the Versa Gripps Pro review and the Xtreme review first.

What is the weight limit of lifting straps?

None of the five brands publishes a load rating. BarBend says heavy-duty straps can hold over 1,000 lb in general, which is a category claim, not a measurement of any one model.

Do lifting straps get recalled?

We searched the US CPSC SaferProducts database on Oct 23, 2026 for lifting straps, weightlifting straps, Harbinger, Gymreapers and IronMind. Each search returned no results. A search for wrist straps returned only a 2006 video game controller strap recall.

Should I buy padded or unpadded straps?

Buy padded if the strap digs into your wrist on heavy pulls. Of the 100 most recent Gymreapers reviews we counted, 14 mention the padding. Buy unpadded if you want a stiffer feel: a Rogue Ohio reviewer quoted by BarBend liked the lack of a spring-like end feel when tight.

How long should the strap be?

Choose 18 in as the minimum, and 20 in or more if you have large wrists or pull heavy deadlifts. BarBend says 18 in can be short for big wrists, and it describes the Rogue Ohio’s 20 in length as extra room for powerlifters.

Cotton or nylon, which lasts longer?

No independent wear test exists for these models. IronMind uses nylon and Gymreapers uses cotton. One Gymreapers owner reported wearing out a cotton pair after a year of heavy use, then buying a second pair.

What owners report

4.9 of 5 (Gymreapers only) from 1,276 ratings on Gymreapers store page (seller's own reviews, Okendo) read Oct 23, 2026

Ratings shown on a seller's own page can leave out reviews the seller removed. We read the most recent reviews ourselves and summarize what repeats.

  • +Of the 100 most recent reviews on the Gymreapers page (Feb 27 to Oct 22, 2026), 20 mention comfort and 14 mention padding or neoprene.
  • −Of those same 100 reviews, 4 mention stiffness or a break-in period, and 1 mentions slipping when wet. The average of the 100 was 4.86 of 5, with 91 five-star ratings.
  • −Complaint about the Versa Gripps Pro from one r/naturalbodybuilding comment (Feb 2025): the rubber grip slips when hands are sweaty.

This is my second pair. The first pair after a year of heavy wear, they finally wore out.

Gymreapers product page review, Jun 2026

The Versa Gripps (Pro) are near unusable if your hands are sweaty because the material is rubber so it just slips with any sort of moisture.

r/naturalbodybuilding comment, Feb 2025

The specs that matter, in plain English

Lasso strap
A strap with a sewn loop at one end. You thread the tail through the loop around your wrist, then wrap the tail around the bar.
Load rating
A stated maximum weight a strap is built to hold. None of the five straps here has one published.
Neoprene
A synthetic rubber foam used as wrist padding on the Gymreapers straps. Harbinger uses a pad it calls NeoTek.
Figure 8 strap
A strap shaped like an eight, with two loops for the wrists, that BarBend calls its most secure type. It is not one of the five picks here.
