Brand claim vs independent measurement

ProductWhat the brand claimsIndependent figureSource
Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR320.1Maximum lawn size / unit weight Up to 0.5 acre; 31.0 lbs with battery (Worx product page) 21,550 sq ft (about 0.49 acre) maximum lawn size; 28.9 lbs listed weight Consumer Reports
Husqvarna Automower 440iQNoise level (dB(A)) 62 dB(A) (Husqvarna spec sheet) No independent acoustic test found. Consumer Reports' public robotic-mower category lists the smaller Automower 410iQ, not the 440iQ, so no third-party figure exists for this exact model. Consumer Reports
Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 10000HXMaximum slope rating 80% (38.6 degrees) (Mammotion product page) No independent lab figure exists. TechGearLab (GearLab's Home & Garden division) and OutdoorGearLab do not publish any robot lawn mower reviews as of this check, so the slope claim is unverified by a third party. TechGearLab
Segway Navimow i210 AWDNoise level (dB(A)) 59 dB(A) (Segway Navimow product page) No independent acoustic test found. Robot lawn mowers are not a certified ENERGY STAR product category, so there is no government-verified efficiency or noise figure to check against. ENERGY STAR

We do not run these tests ourselves. Independent figures are quoted from the source named in each row.

If your yard has real hills, get the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 10000HX. It climbs slopes up to 80% (38.6 degrees), covers up to 2.5 acres, and uses RTK GPS plus AI vision to keep mowing even where cell signal drops out, all for $4,499.

Want the longest warranty instead? The Husqvarna Automower 440iQ backs its $4,299.99 mower with 4 years of coverage and EPOS satellite navigation that needs no boundary wire. Homeowners with a small, level lawn under a quarter acre save the most with the Segway Navimow i210 AWD at $1,299. Anyone with a mid-size lawn up to half an acre fits the Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR320.1 at $1,799.99.

How we picked

We scored every mower on 5 weighted criteria: navigation and setup (25%), cutting and coverage for area and slope (25%), weather and safety features (15%), app and controls (15%), and 3-year cost covering blades and battery (20%).

We read the spec sheets and pricing pages on each brand’s own store: Mammotion’s us.mammotion.com, Husqvarna’s husqvarna.com/us, Worx’s worx.com, and Segway Navimow’s navimow.com. We cross-checked pricing and coverage figures against listings on Best Buy and Amazon.

These are researched picks. We did not mow with any of these machines ourselves. See how we score for the full method.

What to look for

  • Maximum slope rating. Look for at least 30% (17 degrees) if you have any hills at all. The mowers here range from 30% up to 80% (38.6 degrees).
  • Total coverage in acres. Match this to your actual mowed area, not your lot size. Coverage on this list runs from 0.25 acre to 2.5 acres.
  • Cutting height range in inches. A wider range, such as 1 to 4 inches, means fewer manual deck adjustments between spring and fall.
  • IP water and dust resistance rating. IP66 sheds more rain and grit than IPX5, which matters if the mower runs through wet grass or storms.
  • Warranty length in years. Coverage on these mowers ranges from 2 years on a battery pack up to 4 years on the mower itself.
  • Battery capacity and runtime per charge. Check both the amp-hour rating and the minutes of mowing time per charge, since a bigger battery does not always mean a longer run.

FAQ

Do robot lawn mowers need a boundary wire?

Not anymore on most current models. All 4 mowers on this list use satellite or camera-based navigation (RTK GPS, EPOS, or RTK Cloud with V-SLAM) instead of a buried perimeter wire, so setup is mostly done through an app.

How steep a slope can a robot mower handle?

It depends on the model. The Worx Landroid Vision Cloud WR320.1 tops out at 30% (17 degrees), the Husqvarna Automower 440iQ and Segway Navimow i210 AWD both handle 45%, and the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 10000HX is rated for 80% (38.6 degrees).

Can a robot mower work without WiFi or cell signal?

The Mammotion Luba 2 AWD 10000HX is built for this. Mammotion states it can keep mowing up to 984 feet from the last known signal using onboard AI vision and inertial sensors. Check this spec directly if your yard has dead zones.

How much does a robot mower cost to run over 3 years?

The base price is the biggest cost on every mower in this list. None of the 4 brands we checked publish a required replacement schedule or unit price for blades on these specific models, so budget for occasional blade swaps but do not expect a large recurring bill. The Segway Navimow i210 AWD is the one exception with a documented recurring cost: its Connect+ cellular plan is free for 1 year, then renews at $32.90 a year.

Is Segway Navimow a reliable brand to buy from?

Segway Navimow is a newer entrant next to Husqvarna and Worx, both of which have sold robotic mowers for longer. In our scoring the Navimow i210 AWD placed second overall on the strength of its price and its IP66 rating, but it covers only a quarter acre, the smallest yard size of the 4 mowers here. If you want a gas or corded electric backup option instead, see our best lawn mowers and best electric lawn mowers guides, or browse our full lawn and garden section.

What owners report

Not shown as a star score in the fetched page content from 0 ratings on Husqvarna Automower 440iQ product page read Sep 16, 2026

Ratings shown on a seller's own page can leave out reviews the seller removed. We read the most recent reviews ourselves and summarize what repeats.

  • A repeated complaint on the Mammotion Luba subreddit is scalped or torn-up turf where the mower pivots at the corners of a mowing zone.
  • +On r/automower, new Automower 440iQ owners describe wire-free setup and first mows as straightforward even on rough, new-construction yards.

Setup my first work area and transport path. This whole process has been pretty darn painless.

r/automower, Jun 2025

The turning on my Luba 2 has made the mower no longer fit for the intended purpose. It is tearing up my lawn at nearly every corner.

r/mammotion, Aug 2026

The specs that matter, in plain English

RTK GPS
Real-Time Kinematic GPS. A satellite positioning method that corrects standard GPS against a fixed reference point to reach centimeter-level accuracy, used by Mammotion and Worx to map a yard without a buried wire.
EPOS
Exact Positioning Operating System. Husqvarna's wire-free satellite navigation system, which combines GPS with a reference station or cellular data instead of a buried perimeter wire.
V-SLAM
Visual Simultaneous Localization and Mapping. A camera-based navigation method that builds a 3D map of the yard in real time, used as a backup when satellite signal is blocked by trees or buildings.
IP rating
Ingress Protection rating (for example IP66 or IPX5). A two-digit code for how well a device resists dust and water; the first digit covers dust, the second covers water, and a higher number means more protection.
dB(A)
A-weighted decibels. A sound-level measurement adjusted to match how the human ear perceives loudness, used to compare how quiet a mower runs during operation.

What changed

  • Sep 16, 2026 Refreshed evidence blocks: queried the CPSC SaferProducts.gov recall database for robotic lawn mowers (no recall found for Mammotion, Husqvarna, Worx or Segway Navimow), added measured brand-claim-vs-independent rows, added owner report themes and quotes with verified Reddit permalinks, added a glossary and full source list. Re-checked stock status on each brand's own store: the Mammotion Luba 2 AWD line now lists only 'H version' variants (10000HX at 2.5 acres, 2.2 to 4.0 in cut), and all three Luba 2 AWD variants show as sold out directly from Mammotion; the Husqvarna Automower 440iQ also shows Out of Stock on husqvarna.com (Automower models are commonly sold through installer/dealer networks rather than direct ship, so this was not treated as discontinued). Worx and Segway Navimow confirmed in stock and available for purchase. Kept all 4 products and existing prices/specs/subscores unchanged pending editorial review of the Mammotion stock and variant discrepancy.
  • Sep 16, 2026 Corrected the Mammotion pick. us.mammotion.com no longer sells the Luba 2 AWD 10000X (1 in to 2.7 in cut, marketed at up to 3 acres); the only Luba 2 AWD SKU sold today is the 10000HX (2.2 in to 4.0 in cut, 2.5 acres, same $4,499 price), confirmed on Mammotion's own Shopify product data, at Best Buy (SKU J3R84ZFCPR) and at Home Depot. Swapped the product entry, slug, specs, pros, cons, cost_to_own, sources and every content_html mention of the 10000X (intro, What to look for, both FAQ answers, excerpt) to the 10000HX. Checked husqvarna.com and Lowe's for the Automower 440iQ: it is genuinely still sold, listed at Lowe's and multiple authorized Husqvarna dealers; husqvarna.com itself shows Out of Stock, consistent with Automower selling mainly through dealer networks rather than direct ship, so it was kept in the roundup and the out-of-stock status was added to its cons instead of replacing the product. Re-queried the CPSC SaferProducts.gov recall API for all 4 brands: no recall applies to the Luba 2 AWD 10000HX, Automower 440iQ, Landroid Vision Cloud WR320.1 or Navimow i210 AWD. The only mower-related CPSC hit found under the Husqvarna brand name was a 2022 recall of the older Automower 435X AWD and 535 AWD, boundary-wire models that are a different product line from the wire-free 440iQ.
