Simplevery Luxurious Bedding Set (queen)Thread count claim 1000TC, no ply or test method given Wirecutter's experts say good sheets run 200 to 600 depending on weave, and that counts above 300 (percale) or 600 (sateen) often reflect plied yarn being counted. No lab has published a count for this set. Wirecutter

The Simplevery Luxurious Bedding Set, queen 4 piece, scores 4.6 out of 10 on our five criteria, and the reason is missing proof, not proven bad fabric. On Oct 23, 2026 it cost $209.00 on simplevery.com, with a crossed-out regular price of $282.00. The page promises “1000TC Egyptian cotton fabric” and names no mill, weave, ply, certification or care instructions. Our scores come from published specs, certification databases and named third-party measurements, not from our own lab. See how we score.

Simplevery is an affiliate partner of this site, and that did not lift the score. If you want the lowest price and accept the risk, the numbers below show exactly what you are betting on. If you want Egyptian cotton you can verify, start with our best luxury bedding sets. Two background guides explain the checks used here: what thread count is best and how to tell real Egyptian cotton.

Design and setup

Everything in this section comes from the Simplevery product page and its FAQ, read on Oct 23, 2026, not from our own use of the set, as explained in how we score. The queen 4 piece lists a 200 by 230 cm (79 by 91 inch) duvet cover, a 245 by 250 cm (96 by 98 inch) flat sheet and two 48 by 74 cm (19 by 30 inch) pillowcases. The king lists a 220 by 240 cm (87 by 94 inch) cover and a 245 by 270 cm (96 by 106 inch) flat sheet. Sizes lead with centimeters, so measure your duvet insert before you order.

Three details need a question to support before you pay. First, the details line says “Flat sheet or fitted sheet,” but the variant menu offers only color and size, and the size list names a flat sheet. Second, the description mentions “100% linen pillowcases” inside a set sold as Egyptian cotton. Third, the page gives no wash temperature or drying instruction. Delivery is quoted at 2 to 5 business days of processing plus 7 to 30 business days in transit, shipped from “multiple fulfillment centers globally.” The FAQ says the customer pays any customs duties and taxes and gives no amount.

How it scores

Criterion Weight Score Main reason
Fabric and verified fiber claims 30% 3.0 No mill, license, ply or certification named
Construction and fit 20% 4.5 Sizes published, but no ply, weave or fitted sheet
Care and shrink/pill risk 15% 4.0 No care instructions to judge
Returns and warranty 15% 3.5 Two return policies disagree, no warranty found
3-year cost 20% 8.5 $209 over 3 years, the lowest in this price band; quality is scored under fabric, not here

Fabric: 3.0

The 1000TC claim has no ply or test method behind it. Wirecutter’s experts say good sheets run from 200 to 600 threads depending on weave, and that counts above 300 for percale or 600 for sateen can come from counting each strand in a plied yarn. Its example: a 500 count sheet made of two-ply yarn can be sold as 1,000 (Wirecutter, updated Feb 7, 2024). Consumer Reports adds that its lab found no link between claimed material or thread count and how sheets performed (Consumer Reports, updated Mar 8, 2024). Neither publisher has measured this set.

On origin, the Egyptian Cotton Association’s accredited manufacturers page held 182 licence entries when we read it, and the name Simplevery was not among them. A brand can still buy from a licensed mill, but the listing names none. We also searched the product text of all 104 items in Simplevery’s Bedding collection feed for OEKO-TEX, Cotton Egypt, Gold Seal, DNA and certification wording and found no mention. OEKO-TEX says a real Standard 100 label carries a certificate number you can enter in its public Label Check. This listing gives no number to check.

Construction and fit: 4.5

The page publishes piece sizes in two units, which is more than many listings do. It publishes no weave, ply, staple length, fiber percentage or stitching detail, and the linen pillowcase line contradicts the cotton claim. Without a fitted sheet in the size list, fit on your mattress is a question for support.

Care: 4.0

This score reflects unknowns, not a found defect. Consumer Reports found cotton sheets shrank by up to 6 percent in its lab fit tests, so a set with no care label deserves a careful first wash. Simplevery’s page gives none, and we found no pilling or shrinkage data for this set anywhere.

Returns: 3.5

The product page FAQ says 14 days from delivery with a 10% restocking fee and return shipping paid by you. The separate refund policy page says free returns within 7 days with no restocking fee, but also says return shipping is deducted from your refund. Refunds post within 10 business days after Simplevery approves the return. Damaged items are replaced after you send photos. Orders can be canceled within 24 hours. We found no warranty on either page.

Owner evidence is thin. The product page shows 5.0 from one review dated Jan 25, 2021, written in Russian and labeled “Review collected from another provider.” Trustpilot lists 7 reviews for simplevery.com at 2.6, and we counted 6 of the 7 as one star. All six say the order never arrived or support never answered. None was posted in the last 12 months, and the profile is unclaimed. Those are store-wide, small-sample signals, not a verdict on this set, but they are the reason to pay by credit card.

The Practical Math

  • Price: $209.00 for the queen, $224.00 for the king. The page shows $73.00 off $282.00, about 26 percent.
  • 3-year cost: $209.00 plus $0.00 in documented consumables is $209.00, or $69.67 per year over the 3-year window.
  • If you change your mind: the FAQ terms add a 10% fee, which is $20.90 on $209.00, plus return shipping the page does not price. Add-ons like this stay out of the total.
  • Verified alternative: the Brooklinen Luxe Sateen sheet set ($209) plus duvet set ($238) was $447 on Oct 23, 2026, or $149.00 per year. That is $238.00 more than Simplevery, and Brooklinen lists a 365-day return window with a $9.95 return fee.

The savings are real on paper. The question is what you are saving against: Simplevery gives you nothing to verify, so the $238.00 gap buys a seller that publishes its terms and a bigger review base.

Alternatives

Brooklinen Luxe Sateen Sheet Set + Duvet Set (queen, $447 on Oct 23, 2026). The closest like-for-like bundle in our luxury bedding sets list. Brooklinen states 495 threads and long-staple cotton, names no certification on the product text, and has a long return window. See Simplevery vs Brooklinen for the side-by-side.

Boll & Branch Signature Hemmed Sheet Set (queen, $279 on Oct 23, 2026). Sheets only, no duvet cover. The brand states organic cotton with GOTS and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification and gives a certificate number. We did not run that number through the lookup. Prices and picks are in best sheets.

Who should skip it

  • Anyone who needs proof of Egyptian cotton, such as a license number or OEKO-TEX certificate.
  • Anyone who needs a fitted sheet in the box, or a delivery date inside two weeks.
  • Anyone who cannot pay by a card with dispute rights.

If you buy anyway, screenshot the product page and refund policy on order day, then email info@simplevery.com asking which mill makes the fabric, its Egyptian Cotton Association license number, whether the yarn is single ply and what fiber the pillowcases are. Save the reply.

FAQ

Is the Simplevery set really 1000 thread count?

The page claims 1000TC and gives no ply or test method. No independent lab has published a count for this set.

Is Simplevery Egyptian cotton certified?

The product text names no certification and no mill. The brand did not appear on the 182 licence entries we read on the Egyptian Cotton Association’s accredited page.

Has the set been recalled?

We queried the CPSC SaferProducts.gov recall API on Oct 23, 2026 for sheets, bedding, duvet, bed sheet and pillowcase. No result named Simplevery or an Egyptian cotton set.

What is the return policy?

It depends on which page you read: 14 days with a 10% restocking fee on the product FAQ, or 7 days with no fee on the refund policy page. Get the terms in writing before you order.

How does it compare with Brooklinen?

It costs $238.00 less than the Brooklinen Luxe bundle but verifies far less. Read the full comparison.

What owners report

2.6 of 5 from 7 ratings on Trustpilot (unclaimed profile for simplevery.com, whole store, not this set) read Oct 23, 2026

Ratings shown on a seller's own page can leave out reviews the seller removed. We read the most recent reviews ourselves and summarize what repeats.

  • −6 of the 7 Trustpilot reviews are one star, and all six say the order never arrived or support did not reply. The newest is dated Jul 23, 2025, and none are from the last 12 months.
  • −The one review on the product page is dated Jan 25, 2021, is labeled as collected from another provider, and says delivery took almost three months.
  • +The same product-page review calls the quality excellent, and one 5 star Trustpilot review praises value, though it concerns canvas prints, not bedding.

I bought a bedding set 3 weeks ago. Never shipped, no responses.

Trustpilot, 1 star review of simplevery.com, Jun 30, 2025

Товар отличного качества, приятным бонусом было полотенце и сумка. Шёл правда долго почти три месяца. (Translation: Excellent quality, the bonus towel and bag were a nice extra. It did take almost three months to arrive.)

The specs that matter, in plain English

Thread count
The number of warp and weft yarns in one square inch of fabric. It measures density, not softness or fiber quality, and it can be inflated by counting each strand of a plied yarn.
Ply
The number of single strands twisted together to make one yarn. A 500 count fabric made with two-ply yarn can be advertised as 1000 thread count, which is why a listing should state the ply.
Staple length
The length of the cotton fibers. Longer fibers, called long-staple or extra-long-staple, spin into smoother, stronger yarn. Wirecutter calls this more important than the thread count number.
OEKO-TEX Standard 100
A label for textiles tested for harmful substances. It does not prove where the cotton was grown. A genuine label carries a certificate number checked in OEKO-TEX's public Label Check.
Egyptian Cotton Association license
A license number the association assigns to accredited manufacturers. It publishes accredited, suspended and blacklisted lists, so a shopper can search a mill's name before buying.
